Mayoral candidate O'Day makes appearance at Sullivan party
Mayoral candidate Sean O'Day showed his support for fellow candidate Sid Sullivan by appearing at his watch party Tuesday at Broadway Brewery. O'Day recently endorsed Sullivan, saying they have similar stances and ideologies.
"I really think he lines up with us on the bulk of the issues," O'Day said. "I think he'll do a much better job than any other candidate."
Sullivan's work with in the criminal justice system was another reason for O'Day's endorsement.
"I think he has experience in the criminal justice system and has plans to keep people out of it," O'Day said.
O'Day criticized Sullivan during The Maneater's mayoral candidate interviews for Sullivan's desire to attract a retirement community to Columbia. O'Day has since changed his stance and at the watch party said he didn't think it was a problem to attract and older community because Sullivan still represented Columbia's youth.
As for O'Day himself, he said he isn't sure about his future in politics or if he'll run for public office again.
"I don't know, we'll see," O'Day said with a laugh. "I'm not ruling it out."
