‘Morning Glory’ — 3 out of 5 stars

The clichés may be piled on thick, but so is the charm in “Morning Glory.” Rachel McAdams and Harrison Ford lead the cast of this enjoyable, predictable newsroom comedy.

The plot may borrow heavily from “Broadcast News” and “The Devil Wears Prada” but audiences won’t care. This is a crowd-pleasing movie at its finest. McAdams is effortlessly likeable in the role of Becky Fuller, an ultra ambitious executive producer for the ratings-challenged morning show, “Daybreak.” She coaxes a once-great anchor, Ford, out of comfortable retirement to co-anchor the show.

McAdams and Ford’s chemistry is what drives the movie and gives it its spark. If McAdams were only a few decades older, a great romance could have developed between the two. Instead, there is an unnecessary love story that adds little to the movie except some great shots of McAdams’ ass.

Diane Keaton’s role as the other co-anchor is completely underwritten but she is given a few moments to shine and her banter with Ford is hilarious.

Laughs come easily in this cute little flick. Just don’t keep track of how many musical montages there are or you’ll need a calculator.

The debate between news and entertainment in news gives “Morning Glory” a bit of relevance for the journalism lovers out there.

Middle America will eat this movie up and box office earnings should be hearty.
