Lil' Wayne's jail sentence delayed

No tags for this entry.

Lil’ Wayne is no stranger to conflict with the law. He’s been arrested three times in the last few years and most recently pled guilty to drug and gun charges stemming from a 2008 arrest. Wayne was supposed to come to court and subsequently start his sentence this month but was able to delay the formal sentencing until March due to “dental surgery.”

Whether you like Lil’ Wayne’s music or not doesn’t really matter when you talk about his law problems. This whole ordeal has become interesting in and of itself and it makes me wonder what the future holds for Wayne. After dropping his biggest album to date, Tha Carter 3, a year and a half ago, he didn’t do much. Sure, mixtapes have been dropping left and right for the last little while. But his latest effort, the rock-inspired Rebirth, was an absolute disaster of a record and should be looked at as a low-point in his recording career.

Lil’ Wayne has big plans. He wants to release Tha Carter IV this year, but how can he do this if he keeps pushing his prison date further and further back? Personally, I’d go to jail now to get the time over with and move on with my recording career.

Wayne put his South Beach condo up for sale last week for a reported $2.8 million dollars and has said that visitors claim that the place reeks of weed. But this isn’t necessarily turning potential buyers off.

"That's like walking in Bob Marley's crib and you still smelling weed and his bed still messed up, and food still on the table. You like, 'Leave all that shit. I want to buy all that shit.’ ”

After all these years, you’re still as eloquent as ever, Dwayne.

First off, his dental surgery involves the majority of his teeth, its not a scheme to push his sentence back. Second Rebirth was the number 1 record on the rap and r&b charts and number 2 overall, definitely not a low point. And last Tha Carter IV is already recorded and just awaiting post and promo. Weezy knows what he's doin

I never said it was a scheme to push his sentence back. Rebirth was certainly a low-point in Weezy's recording career. When you have such a substantial catalog like he does, his bad albums are markedly worse and that's definitely the case with Rebirth. "Paradice" and "Drop the World" are decent tracks, but this LP doesn't come close to comparing to his older work. Carter IV is recorded and completely done? Since when? I'd love a source on that because I am anxiously awaiting Carter IV.

Who are you to say that Rebirth was a failure? Are you a music critic? I think not. I also completely disagree and think that lil wayne is an INCREDIBLE rapper, whether or not he goes to jail. Can you even imagine the amount of lyrics he's gonna have when he's done serving time? yeahhhh, wait for thattt album to drop and u can eat ur words
