'Plain White T's' concert – 5 out of 5 stars
At the Blue Note on April 6, Andy Grammar, Parachute and a little band called The Plain White T’s performed energetically to a female frenzy.
If you think you’ve never heard of The Plain White T’s, you’ve probably have. There was a song called “Hey There Delilah”... maybe you’ve heard of it? It ignited the flare of this high-energy, pop rock band’s career.
Last night the band promoted its newest album, Wonder of the Youngers, which the lead singer, Tom HIggenson, described as a way to return to childhood. The stage was perfectly set as a replica of the album cover. The show included a spectacular light show and many of the new album’s songs as well as some well-known songs such as “Our Time” and “1, 2, 3, 4.” The band put on an adrenaline-pumping performance.
The first opener was a guy named Andy Grammar who not only had a cute face, but also a sweet, smooth voice. His outgoing and fun demeanor added to his incredible talent at the guitar, piano, vocals and beat-boxing. He also gave the crowd a taste of his own version of now famously awful Rebecca Black’s “Friday.”
But the main band was not the only one with quite a following. Parachute had many fans singing along to every song. Saxophone, beautiful lyrics and one good-looking singer helped pull more fans into the band's growing following.
If you haven’t yet experienced a Blue Note concert, I strongly suggest you do. The bands are awesome and it’s a great way to spend a boring weeknight.
