"Where are some African-American based hair salons? If there are any, are they close to the campus?" —Niquole
Though I couldn't find any salons catering to the black community on the Internet, Legion of Black Collegians Vice President Jerusha Wells said LBC has a Freshmen Action Team dedicated to helping new black students adjust to campus and Columbia.
The group meets Sundays, she said, and anyone interested can contact her at jawtg6@mizzou.edu. I predict someone there would be happy to help you find a salon that's right for you.

"What's the best laundromat in Columbia?" —Sarah J.
If you live on campus, you already know that there are laundry rooms in most of the residence halls, and you also already know that they're great places to get some studying done and meet people via awkward conversations about your skivvies (No, this is my roomate's Speedo).
If you need to get some washing done and you live just south of campus, check out Lily Pad Laundry Co.at 3109 Green Meadows Way. They've got double- and triple-loading washing machines, which cost $1.25 and $2.50, respectively, and dryers that cost 25 cents per 5 minutes.
Lily Pad has a TV and wireless Internet acess, as well as a few old arcade games to keep you busy. Remember Primal Rage, the dinosaur-based fighting game from like 1994?
If you rest your head in the area north of campus, check out Splashers Laundry and Tanning located at 1804 Paris Rd. They also have a TV and wireless Internet access, as well as six arcade games. Their machines range from a double-loader for $1.75 to an 8-load machine for $7.25 (so, basically it's less than a dollar per load). They also have a pool table and a tanning bed and, well, BEER.
Just to clarify, Ask The Maneater is not saying that its readers should go to the laundromat to get sloshed (unless you have a designated driver/someone to make sure you don't dump bleach in with your colors), but just to let you know, Splashers has Bud, Bud Light and Bud Lime in bottles and Bud Light, Michelob, and Busch Light on tap. From 4-6 p.m.,you can get a draw of Busch Light for 75 cents.
Do you have a favorite laundromat? Let us know in the comments.

Along with all the other things we've recently added to themaneater.com, we're excited to launch a new feature we call Ask The Maneater. In a nutshell, you send us questions, and we answer them in this blog — it's that simple.
So what are you waiting for? Ask away!
(Edit: Due to the low volume of questions we received, we've since removed this feature. Thanks to everyone who did ask questions, though!)
