Referee Curtis Shaw explains the end of the previous game
The Big 12 just released a statement, clarifying what happened at the end of the game between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Referee Curtis Shaw explained the protocol and the final ruling.
"You go to the monitor and use a stop watch to see if the clock has expired of if we need to put time back on the clock," Shaw said.
"We ran the play back three times to make sure," Shaw said. "There was over three seconds when Oklahoma rebounded the long miss. There was 2.3 seconds on the clock when we started the play.
"Even if Oklahoma had scored with the rebound of the long shot by Blake Griffin, it would have come after time had expired."
As I type, Oklahoma State's players have come out to be seated in the stands to watch Missouri and Texas Tech. They were met with a hearty ovation from the remaining Oklahoma State fans.
