Inside battle emerging

In a game featuring more than capable guard play, Texas and Baylor appear to be waging a war with their big men.

Entering the game, Texas was expected to have a major edge in the paint, largely thanks to the big frame and developing scoring touch of junior center Dexter Pittman. Baylor tried to counter Pittman defensively with Mamadou Diene, who was very solid in defending Kansas' Cole Aldrich in the quarterfinals yesterday. Diene has picked up two fouls in the game's first six minutes.

Baylor has turned to senior forward Kevin Rogers for its inside offense. Rogers is 3-of-5 from the floor, with all three baskets coming on dunks. His latest was an alley-oop finish from Curtis Jerrells.
