The Wesley United Methodist Campus Ministry cooked and served a meal for the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen Saturday.

For one student who was having a tough day, volunteering at Loaves and Fishes helped him feel better, Wesley Campus Ministry Director Rev. Michael Will said.

“When you do things not just for yourself but for somebody else, it just feels good,” Will said. “It’s a different feeling, which we need. Life can be hard and it can get you down, but when you go and do something to help somebody, it can pull you out of that.”

Will said about eight or nine students met up at 12:30 p.m. to buy the food. After cooking the meal, they came to Loaves and Fishes to set up, served the meal from 5 to 6 p.m., and cleaned up afterward.

“People are really kind and gracious,” Will said. “Some people are really quiet and don’t say anything. But when they do talk, almost everybody expresses something positive.”

The Catholic Student Association will cook and serve a Loaves and Fishes meal on Wednesday from 3:45 to 6:30 p.m.
