MSA creates an Ad hoc committee for CDS issues
The Missouri Students Association passed Bill 49-11 at last Wednesday’s Senate meeting, creating an ad hoc Dining Issues Committee.
The purpose of the bill was to create a committee with the sole purpose of dealing with issues related to Campus Dining Services. In the past, all CDS matters fell to the Student Affairs Committee, which deals with a multitude of other issues as well, said Abhi Sivasailam, interim committee chair and bill co-author.
“It’s a lot for Student Affairs to focus on these and other issues," Sivasailam said. "The new committee will be able to focus on this one topic and tackle dining issues effectively."
In the past year, Student Affairs was approached with a variety of CDS related issues including trayless dining, the ability to check EZ Charge online and expanding EZ charge off campus. Issues such as these will be covered by the new committee.
The committee has plans to continue evaluating these ideas as well as look into more nutritional dining options and listing nutritional facts.
As an ad hoc committee, the members will be comprised of MSA senators as well as other students.
“We haven’t had our first meeting yet, but we have about 10 or so students interested in joining the committee,” Sivasailam said. “At the joint meeting on October 14, we will approach RHA members about joining.”
Senate Speaker Amanda Shelton is accepting applications for the Campus Dining Issues chairmanship through Friday at 5 p.m. The deadlines for Operations and Academic Affairs chairpersons are also at this time.
