Residential Life and Campus Dining Services presented a copy of their 2012 fiscal year budget, which is still subject to change.

“Our goal is to work together as seamlessly as possible, so that students don’t notice a difference,” Residential Life Director Frankie Minor said about CDS and Residential Life.

The average rate for a double occupancy room on campus is expected to increase $236, to $4,946 per year next semester, and does not include the cost of a dining plan, Minor said.

The largest percent increase of any room fee is 4.09 percent, Minor said.

Residential Life will spend $14,493,546 to pay off loans. This money was used in recent projects.

The master plan indicates Mark Twain residence hall will close in the fall semester of 2010, but renovations may be deferred for financial reasons, Minor said.

Remodeling Rollins Dining Hall will cost two million dollars, CDS Director Julaine Kiehn said.

“We’re not trying to figure out how much we can gouge you guys for,” Minor said. “We’re trying to figure out how much will it cost to maintain our facilities, and trying to find what’s the lowest amount we can charge to meet our goals.”
