NFL awards MU researchers $120,000 grant

The National Football League granted MU researchers $120,000 to improve diagnostic tests for knee injuries, the Associated Press reported Monday.

The charitable branch of the NFL is providing financial support for professor James Cook’s research in ways to diagnose meniscal tears more quickly, even as soon as soon as the injury occurs.

The grant comes after MU’s Comparative Orthopedic Laboratory developed a similar technique for identifying the tears for use in dogs.
