New IFC executive board installed
The Interfraternity Council will hold their transition for the executive board Dec. 10. The new executive board members were installed Monday.
Greek Life coordinator Julie Drury said IFC’s transition is a time for the outgoing executive board to talk with the incoming board.
“Some of the topics that they will discuss as a group are the successes and challenges from the past year,” Drury said. “After that session is over, the new executive board will have some time to talk about their expectations for each other as well as talk about possible goals for the upcoming year.”
Drury said many of the incoming executive board members are also current leaders in the Greek Life community and are also in the process of transitioning out of their current positions.
“Over the last few weeks, the incoming boards have been starting their transition period with the outgoing board,” Drury said. “Much of this has been done with one on one conversations with the person who currently holds their position regarding the specific tasks of that position.”
According to the 2010 IFC executive board application, the newly elected board members are required to attend the Greek Leader Retreat in January.
“The Greek Leader Retreat is for the four council executive boards, as well as all of the chapter presidents,” Drury said. “There is time to focus on leadership development, team building and relationships of the leaders in the Greek Community.”
Drury said the retreat always takes place the weekend after classes start and is sponsored by the Office of Greek Life.
