Operations Committee discusses concealed carry
A lively discussion on the proposed conceal-carry law in the state legislature occurred in the Missouri Students Association Operations Committee meeting Tuesday night.
MSA Senate Speaker Amanda Shelton proposed a resolution that would oppose the amendment stating that people with conceal-carry permits would be allowed to carry weapons on college campuses.
The discussion within the Operations Committee contained people from both sides of the debate.
MSA Senator Garrett Bergquist was very vocal about his support for the proposed amendment.
“Not having conceal and carry isn’t doing us any good,” Bergquist said, citing the Virginia Tech massacre as his support for this argument.
MSA Senators Evan Woods and Ian Krause were very adamant about their support of MSA’s resolution.
“I’m not comfortable with the idea of introducing more guns into the area,” Krause said.
Ultimately, the resolution passed through Operations with Conley and Woods voting for and Bergquist voting against.

Laws only apply to people who want to follow them. The bad guys will always do what they want. It is our responsibility to ourselves and others to be prepared.
