Gender inclusion referendum passes
Official results from the Missouri Students Association referendum show that the gender identity clause passed with 82 percent of the vote, with 2,780 students voting.
MSA will now include a gender identity non-discrimination clause in its constitution this week. The clause will prohibit discrimination against gender non-conforming students within MSA. In addition to changing MSA's constitution, the results of the referendum could also be used as evidence of student support when introducing the proposal to the board.
Students also voted to oppose a Faculty Council-driven initiative to begin finals week the Friday before its normal start time, thus moving Reading Day to the Thursday of that week. That ballot referendum failed, with 61 percent of students voting against it.
Also voted upon this week were MSA senators. See a full list of senators selected from each school or college here.
