Access Missouri scholarship amounts drop 22 percent
The Missouri Department of Higher Education announced Friday that the award amounts from the Access Missouri scholarship program will be 22 percent lower than last year’s total.
A MDHE news release said students who have Expected Family Contributions of $12,000 or less qualify for an Access Missouri Scholarship. A student’s eligibility is determined by information from a student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA.
“The number of eligible applicants for the 2009-2010 academic year has increased significantly over last year, but the amount of money available has not,” Commissioner of Higher Education Robert Stein said in the news release.
Maximum amounts for awards this school year will be $780 at public two-year institutions, $3,590 at independent institutions and $1,680 at public four-year institutions such as MU, according to the news release.
