Performance tax could affect KCOU
Two congressional bills, H.R. 848 and S. 379 could levy taxes on radio stations for playing music.
KCOU General Manager Jonathan Hutcheson said KCOU would be affected by this, possibly paying a $1,000 tax in addition to their licensing cost.
Hutcheson said the station is against the tax and plans to take a public stance on the matter.
Their are two resolutions in opposition to these bills as well: S. Con. Res. 14 and H. Con. Res. 49.
The bills have not been voted on at this time.
