Mizzou Hillel offered services Sunday and Monday to celebrate Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement.

Hillel members met at the Jewish Campus Center at 1107 University Ave. for services.

Jewish Student Organization director Kerry Hollander said these services are important to students who cannot be with their families for the high holidays.

“They may not have access to a car to get home,” Hollander said. “This is their community.”

At 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, the eve of Yom Kippur, Hillel held the Kol Nidre service. Yom Kippur services were 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday. The Yizkor memorial service was at 5 p.m.

After the sun set on Monday, Hillel members broke their 25-hour fast together at the Jewish Campus Center.
