Michael Crawford to lead Policies and Rules Committee

Michael Crawford will lead the new Policies and Rules Committee, a new committee this year to the Residence Halls Association.

“It was created at the end of last semester, actually its first incarnation was a ‘constitutional review committee’,” Speaker of Congress Blake Lawrence said. “This semester I created it as an official committee, a standing committee for the year to address house rules, constitutional review board.”

“We’re kind of like a legislative – judicial committee,” Policies and Rules Subcommittee Chairman Michael Crawford said. “We look at the constitution, the bylaws, we make sure everything’s in order. We do a lot if there’s any discrepancies in policy.”

The committee will unify a variety of functions that were previously held by the entire organization.

“I hope that they will be active in either the board of elections, or the scholarship review committee.” Lawrence said.

“I put Michael Crawford in charge of it because he’s very good with these things,” Lawrence said. “Dealing with policy, detail and parliamentary procedure – that kind of thing.”

Four new members were recruited to the committee on Monday night.
