Patricia Williams, a columnist for Nation magazine, will be speaking about closing the achievement gap on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Stotler Lounge of Memorial Union.

According to the event's MU Web site, Williams, who's column is titled "Diary of a Mad Law Professor," has testified before Congress and is teaching at the Columbia School of Law.

Last week, Columbia citizens and MU students came together to honor King.

Deputy Chancellor Michael Middleton said this day is important in fostering peace and justice.

"Each year we are reminded how important to our future development these concepts are," Middleton said on MU's MLK day Web site.
