RHA approves funding for Vagina Monologues
Residence Hall Coordinator Barbara Banks presented a funding request for The Vagina Monologues to the Residence Halls Association Monday night, which was approved for $1,800.
The Vagina Monologues is a play by Eve Ensler based on interviews she conducted with women.
The request stated all of the funds will go toward the cost of renting Jesse Hall Auditorium for the performance night, Banks said.
The funding request was approved Monday night in RHA’s congressional meeting.
Merchandise such as vagina suckers and T-shirts will also be sold at the event to raise funds. All proceeds from the performance of The Vagina Monologues will be donated to [The Shelter] (http://www.boonecountysafeshelter.com/) and [The L.E.A.D. Institute] (http://www.deaflead.org/).
National Communications Coordinator Mike Madden also said his Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis video game festival, which took place in December, earned approximately $435. Businesses from Kansas City, St. Louis and Joplin also made donations.
In addition, Roger Cheng transferred to a university in California, leaving his position as Campus Dining Services and Facilities sub-committee chair vacant, Speaker of Congress Michael Crawford said.
