Mizzou Black Men's Initiative fundraises for breast cancer awareness

Tags:

Throughout October, the Mizzou Black Men’s Initiative is holding a month-long Facebook fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness.

To participate in the fundraiser entitled “Brothers for the Cure,” someone must RSVP as “attending” on the event listed here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=157214504303778. For every 50 RSVPs up to 1,000, the organization will donate $5 to the Mid-Missouri Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Additionally, for every 10 people, with a maximum of 500, who tag “Brothers for the Cure” in a post or status and it is linked to the event’s wall, the group will donate $.20 to the same foundation. Every picture posted to the page’s wall, under a maximum of 500, showing breast cancer awareness will result in a $.25 donation.

There is no financial obligation for anyone who participates in the Facebook activities.

Further, the organization is selling “Brothers for the Cure” buttons for $1, with half of the proceeds benefitting the cause. Buttons can be purchased from any MBMI member.

MBMI is also encouraging anyone to adorn themselves in pink on Mondays throughout the month.
