Student Court ruling puts Travis-Horan back on ballot
Four days after the Travis-Horan Missouri Students Association presidential slate was removed from the election for a series of infractions, the Student Court chose to reinstate the candidates Sunday.
The court found candidates Josh Travis and Michelle Horan guilty of one intentional infraction and two negligent infractions after hearing oral protests from MSA's Board of Elections Commissioners, which had originally issued the infractions, and the Travis-Horan slate in a hearing Sunday evening.
The BEC said Travis-Horan intentionally and deliberately went against the MSA bylaws in order to deceive the BEC.
The first infraction BEC issued against Travis-Horan pertained to improper use of university e-mail listservs. According to the rulings, the Student Court found this first infraction to be intentional because Horan’s intent behind authoring and distributing the e-mail in question was solely to gain political advantage.
However, the student court found the second and third infractions to be negligent, stating that the BEC was aware of the PayPal account in question as well as other financial discrepancies committed by the Travis-Horan slate. The court is also in agreement with Travis-Horan, according to the rulings.
“We are in agreement with the slate that sources of Income and Form and list of expenditure did not need to be completed and turned into the BEC, because the slate did not explicitly receive any funds or spend any money on the campaign T-shirts in question,” the Student Court stated in the case three ruling.
Online voting for the MSA presidential election between Travis-Horan, Hansen-Oxenreider and Woods-Moon is set to begin at 6 p.m. Monday.

Justice has been served! Now that Travis-Horan are rightfully back on the ballot I think we have a 3 way race again! Good luck to all three and may the best slate win.
