This past weekend 12 members of the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Association traveled to St. Louis to partake in the Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values Central Leadership Conference.

AFVL was founded in 2008 by a merger of the Mid-American Greek Council Association and the Western Region Greek Association and exists to stimulate the growth and development of fraternity and sorority council and chapter leaders by promoting leadership, education and values.

“We went in with completely open minds,” IFC President Brandon Green said. “We had no idea what to expect, we had no idea what kind of speakers we were going to hear or what kind of workshops we were going to, so we went into it hoping to get the most out of it that we could.”

The workshops focused on improving leadership skills and creating stronger Greek Life councils.

“The big thing we learned was that all Greek councils are more similar than they are different and how it’s important to create a sense of community between every organization that makes up our Greek community and facilitate more open lines of communication across chapters and councils,” PHA President Caitlin Mundschenk said. “We also gained ideas on what to bring to our specific positions and specific projects.”
