Y107 wins contest for MU Children's Hospital
The Children's Miracle Network announced radio station Y107 as "The Most Caring Radio Station in Radio Station in North America" Monday afternoon.
There were approximately three million votes cast in the competition, and Y107 received over a third of the votes with over 1.1 million total. Y107 will receive $50,000 from the Children's Miracle Network and life insurance provider Foresters which they are donating to the MU Children's Hospital.
Children's Hospital spokesman Matt Splett said the money will be added to the funds raised during the 2010 Radiothon. In the past, proceeds from the annual radiothon have been used to provide the Children's Hospital with technological needs and comfort items for patients.
"We heard stories about people voting for us around the world. We were just amazed by the amount of support shown throughout this contest," Splett said.
