National musical group performs at Newman Center

The St. Thomas More Newman Center will host performances by Joe Mattingly and the Newman Singers this weekend.

The Newman Singers from the University of Iowa Newman Catholic Student Center are a musical group that has been touring the nation for 15 years, according to their Web site. The Newman Singers have released 10 albums, their Web site said.

Newman Singers founder and director Joe Mattingly has composed songs such as “On That Holy Mountain,” “Come Home” and “Who is this King of Glory,” according to the St. Thomas More Newman Center Web site.

There will be free concerts 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Newman Center. The Newman Singers will also lead worship at the 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sunday masses.
