Four MU students chosen for Goldwater Scholarship
The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation named four students 2010 Goldwater Scholars on Wednesday, according to an MU news release.
The foundation selected four juniors, Daniel Cook, April Diebold, Bertram Drury and Rachel Waller, based on their academic performance after faculty members nominated the students. According to the news release, this is the first year all four MU nominees have received the award.
“The fact that four MU undergraduates have received 2010 Goldwater scholarships is a testimony to the terrific ability of the students,” said Theodore Tarkow, associate dean of the College of Arts and Science. “All four have benefited from opportunities to participate in scientific research that is integral to their undergraduate degrees and to MU’s mission.”
Cook, Diebold, Drury and Waller were among 278 students who received the award this year. A total of 16 MU students were chosen for the award between 1995 and 2008.
