Former Missouri football player killed in I-44 crash
Daniel Schatz, a former Missouri Tigers football player, was one of two people killed in a crash on I-44 on Thursday. Schatz was a walk-on quarterback as a freshman in 2009 and is the son of Republican candidate for state representative Dave Schatz.
The Sullivan Journal reported the accident occurred when a tractor-trailer slowed for traffic in front of a pickup being driven by Schatz. The halt caused Schatz's pickup to crash into the rear of the tractor-trailer. Two school buses from St. James then ran into the rear of the pickup, sending the first bus over the top of the vehicle. The second bus also crashed into the rear of the first bus. One student on the first bus was also killed.
