UPDATE: Package outside Veterans Hospital cleared by bomb squad
A package outside the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital which was investigated by a bomb squad has been cleared, MUPD Capt. Brian Weimer said at 9:40 p.m. Friday.
"There was nothing in there," he said.
A bomb squad was dispatched to the Veterans Hospital on Hospital Drive around 8:30 p.m. to investigate a package left near the building, MU Police Department Chief Jack Watring said.
The package was located outside the north side of the Veterans Hospital. Watring said the bomb squad consisted of members of the Columbia Police Department, the Columbia Fire Department and MUPD.
