MU internal medicine residency on 1-year probation
MU's internal medicine program has been placed on a one-year probation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, according to reports Thursday from the Associated Press and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
According to an Associated Press report, this is the second time in three years that the program has been placed on probation by the ACGME. The program was placed on two-year probation in 2009, but the probation was lifted in January after the school made several changes.
The probation does not mean the program has lost its certification. The AP report stated that if a residency program loses its certification, residents would be ineligible for board certification and may not be able to obtain medical licenses.
