Nixon picks southwest Missouri attorney for Board of Curators
For the second consecutive day, Gov. Jay Nixon has announced an appointment to the UM system Board of Curators.
Wednesday's nomination saw Nixon tap Donald L. Cupps, of Cassville. Often representing farmers in southwest Missouri, Cupps works at the law firm of Ellis, Cupps and Cole. He is a member of the board of trustees for the Public School Retirement System of Missouri, as well as the attorney for the city of Cassville and for the Barry County Industrial Development Authority.
"Don Cupps has long-standing, strong ties to the University of Missouri and to rural Missouri," Nixon said in a news release. "His experience in the business and agricultural communities, and his dedication to public education and community service will serve the people of Missouri well on the Board of Curators. I know he will continue to be a strong voice for rural Missouri in this position."
Cupps is an alum of the UM system, earning a bachelor's degree in agricultural economics and a law degree.
If confirmed by the Missouri Senate, Cupps will represent the Seventh Congressional District. His term would end Jan. 1, 2017.
