Curators appoint Richards as UM System treasurer
The UM System Board of Curators appointed Tom Richards to serve as treasurer of the System, effective Friday.
Richards, who most recently served as the System's assistant controller, will work to provide operating leadership and strategic direction for the System's cash management, debt and banking relationships across the four campuses and health system. He will also be in charge of investment portfolios, which include the System's retirement and endowment funds, as well as operating capital.
"Tom brings a wealth of experience in the financial industry and first-hand knowledge of the university and its financial needs, priorities and challenges," interim System president Steve Owens said in a news release.
He will be replacing John Miller in the position.
