From Oct. 24 to 30, MU Libraries will participate in Open Access Week, a global event to promote free, immediate online access to research.

"The MU Libraries are sponsoring an Open Access event this year in order to shed light on the tremendous potential of this movement," MU Libraries Director Jim Cogswell said. "We believe that Open Access is the best way to ensure scholarship will remain both accessible to users and affordable to libraries."

As a part of the event, A. Townsend Peterson from the University of Kansas will speak at 10 a.m. Oct. 19 on "A Faculty Perspective on Open Access." The event will be held in the Ellis Library Colonnade and an MU faculty panel discussion will take place afterward.
