College Republicans hold panel amidst Pro-Life Week
In light of Pro-Life Week, the Mizzou College Republicans hosted a three-person panel this Wednesday night looking at the consequences of abortion.
Former College Republicans Chairwoman Sophie Mashburn served as the moderator of the panel that included Susan Borer, of the group “Silent No More,” Patty Skain, executive director for Missouri Right to Life and Kathy Forck, campaign director for “40 Days for Life.”
Each of the panelists explained their past experiences or outside anecdotes about abortion and encouraged students to get involved in their organizations.
The panel discussed their views on Planned Parenthood and its funding to their views on birth control, Plan B and other contraceptives as well as abortion in the political arena.
“It was good,” College Republicans Treasurer Phil Arnzen said. “There were a different array of people. It sees a lot of the people and a lot of the consequences.”
Arnzen said he enjoyed hearing about the different panelists’ political experiences on the ground.
The College Republicans also held a “Tree of Life” display where students could get cookies for writing on the tree why they love life. The group is hosting another pro-life discussion at 7 p.m. on Friday in Room 2203 in the Student Center with Patrick and Jeannie Weston.
