Truman’s Pond prepares for reopening

The Student Recreation Complex announced plans to open the Truman’s Pond outdoor pool within the next few days for the spring season.

The pool will open as soon as there is a pattern of consistently warm weather, Recreation Services and Facilities Director Diane Dahlmann said.

Truman’s Pond can accommodate about 120 people combined on the deck and in the water.

“Depending on the weather, the place should be packed on a sunny, 80 degree plus day,” Dahlmann said.

The water temperature for the pool is set at 86 degrees. The Beach Club area also has a working hearth fireplace, which is turned on every evening by staff.

There is no set date for the pool to reopen, but Dahlmann expects the pool will reopen in mid-April.
