Late Tuesday evening, St. Louis sports talk show host John Marecek took to Twitter to reveal some news about MU athletics.

“Tune into @thebig550 KTRS this morning at 7:20 for a big announcement,” he tweeted.

The next morning, he announced that Mizzou Sports Properties, MU’s media partner, had paired with St. Louis’ KTRS The Big 550 AM for the football and men’s basketball broadcasts next year.

“KTRS The Big 550 is proud to once again partner with the University of Missouri as the radio station in St. Louis for Mizzou football and basketball,” KTRS-550 AM General Manager Tim Dorsey said in a news release. “University of Missouri is one of the premier programs in college sports, and Mizzou fans will now have a consistent radio home at 550 AM for the Tiger Network.”

The programs will broadcast all games, “Tiger Talk” coaches shows and “Tiger Update” daily reports throughout the team’s next seasons. This is all part of a multi-year agreement between the two.

Mizzou Sports Properties is a local branch of Learfield Sports, which manages media for more than 50 colleges and universities. Within the Big 12, the company also broadcasts programs from Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

Athletics Director Mike Alden said he’s excited for the prospects the new partnership will bring.

“We are very pleased to partner with KTRS as our new radio affiliate in St. Louis,” he said. “St. Louis is a very important city for us, and we know this partnership will be a positive one for Mizzou, KTRS and our fans.”

Seriously, did Mizzou learn from the Cardinals? Reception for KTRS is terrible and I live in the area. What a shame
