Finance professor David West dies from polio
David West
Finance professor David West died June 29 from complications related to polio.
"Dr. West was a true educator in all of its meaning," Department of Finance Chairman Dan French said. "He was a mentor to his students, an extremely effective classroom teacher and available to his students even after graduation. Many of his students remained in contact with him, letting him know where they were and where their career had led them."
Many of these students spoke highly of their time with West in a tribute on the Trulaske College of Business' website. West taught more than 11,000 students in his 44 years at MU. In his time at the university, he had served as the chairman of the Department of Finance, Faculty Council and the MU Research Council.
A scholarship fund in West's name has been established.
"We will miss him very much here in the Trulaske College of Business at MU," French said.
