Forbes ranks MU 386th in 'Top Colleges' list

Forbes’ recently released list of “America’s Top Colleges” ranks MU 386th out of the country’s colleges and universities. The ranking marks the university as the fourth highest-ranked school in the Big 12.

The rankings are compiled based on five factors: student satisfaction, post-graduate success, student debt, four-year graduation rates and competitive awards earned by students.

Within each category, the staff of the Center for College Affordability and Productivity looks at several different aspects. The group considers student evaluation on Rate My Professors as 17.5 percent of the total score and 15 percent of the score comes from the salaries of alumni as listed on PayScale.

MU’s ranking puts the university in the lower 50 percent of schools ranked by Forbes. In the Midwest, MU was ranked 98th. Only three schools in the Big 12 Conference were ranked higher than MU. Texas A&M University at 178th, University of Texas at 185th and Baylor University at 276th. Iowa State scored the lowest in the conference and was ranked 514th.
