Board of Curators unanimously approves tuition increase

The UM system Board of Curators approved a tuition increase earlier this morning for both resident and non-resident students.

According to a press release from the Board of Curators, undergraduate tuition for residents will increase by 3 percent to cover the rate of inflation. For out of state students, tuition will increase by 7.5 percent.

“The university has long been committed to being a good steward of state resources and has continued to do more with less—including our unique ability as the state’s land-grant university to advance the education, economy, health and culture of Missouri,” UM System President Tim Wolfe said in the release. “While we understand the difficult revenue challenges the state faces and the governor’s commitment to providing whatever resources he can for public higher education, we continue to be at a tipping point for quality and once again will have to make difficult budget choices.”
