Tuesday ceremony to unveil new MLK Memorial replica

A Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial replica statue will be unveiled at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Richard Wallace atrium in Ellis Library on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

The event, hosted by the MU Chancellor's Diversity Initiative and the University of Missouri LIbraries, will take place from 2-3:30p.m. and is open to the public, according to a MU News Bureau press release.

MU alum Ty Christian, a 1997 graduate, will present the statue to MU Ellis LIbrary, where it will be permanently featured. As chief marketing strategist of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Christian helped the foundation raise $115 million, according to the press release. Christian is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Mizzou Alumni Association.

Immediately following the ribbon-cutting, a reception will be held in the Ellis LIbrary Colonnade.
