City names new airport manager
Andrew Schneider has been named the manager of the Columbia Regional Airport by the Columbia Department of Public Works, according to a city press release released today.
Schneider, who is currently manager of the Jamestown (N.D.) Regional AIrport, will assume his new duties Nov. 8 at a salary of $62,000 per year, the release stated. The Jamestown (N.D.) Sun is reporting today that Schneider has announced his resignation as airport director there.
Schneider will replace interim airport manager Don Elliot, who took over when manager Kathy Frerking resigned after four years as airport manager in August. Columbia Public Works Director John Glascock said in the statement that he was optimistic about Schneider taking the position.
“Andrews’ experience with commercial and general aviation services will help us continue to add benefit to the community and, we hope, enhance our air service” Glasscock said. “His experience working with Delta Air Lines through the Essential Air Service program for Jamestown, plus going through terminal renovations at their airport, made him a good fit for Columbia Regional.”
