Woody biomass conferece set for later this month
The Missouri Forestry Resources Advisory Council announced today that it will host a conference on producing energy from woody biomass later this month in Jefferson City.
According to a news release on the group's website, the Oct. 22 conference at the Runge Nature Center will focus on how small, poor quality trees and wood residue can be used as fuel in several alternative energy projects around the state. The release said part of the conference will focus on how to use the biomass in an environmentally friendly way.
In August, U.S. Sen. Kit Bond, R-Mo., hosted a biomass summit on the MU Campus. MU agroforestry professor Gene Garrett told attendees at the conference that Missouri has a large amount of biomass resources in its grasses, forests and wood chips.
