Gov. Nixon announced today Access Missouri program scholarships would be increased through the Missouri Department of Higher Education for the 2010-2011 academic year. For students at MU under the Access Missouri program, the scholarship amount awarded will increase to $1,010 from $950.
"I am pleased my administration will be able to increase Access Missouri awards for this school year to help more students afford to earn their degree," Nixon said in a statement. "We'll continue working each and every day to put the dream of a college education within reach for more Missouri families."
According to Nixon's press release, about 46,000 students will receive scholarships through Access Missouri for the spring semester. With the increased value in scholarships through the program, the state will be investing approximately $58.7 million into Access Missouri this year.
