Schaefer announces funds to train 80 workers at IBM
State Sen. Kurt Schaefer, R-Columbia, announced the Department of Economic Development has allotted funds to train 80 workers at International Business Machines (IBM) in Columbia. IBM was awarded the funds for participating in the Missouri Customized Training Program.
“This program is a great incentive toward job creation, not only in mid-Missouri, but all across our state,” Schaefer said in a news release.
The program helps companies train employees in various types of industry by providing funds to companies as job positions become available.
The IBM facility in Columbia is one of three new facilities opened in the U.S. within the past three months, which has created 800 IT jobs.
