Mediacom replaces KOMU programming with Turner Classic Movies, Starz Family

While Mediacom continues to discuss KOMU’s future on its channel line-up, it has chosen the programs that will fill the channels KOMU and its affiliates previously occupied.

“We do have arrangements confirmed for alternative programming that Mediacom customers will see while we continue to negotiate to reach a fair agreement that is in the best interests of our customers,” Mediacom spokeswoman Phyllis Peters said.

Turner Classic Movies will be shown on channel 7 and 707, Starz Family will be broadcasted on channel 5 and Discovery HUB, a rebranded version of Discovery KIDS, will be shown on channel 86 and/or 101.

“Our network technicians have been working today to install the equipment and make it possible for those channels to reach Mediacom customers in and around Jefferson City and Columbia,” Peters said. “We anticipate the programming will be viewable later in the afternoon or early evening.”

I'll take TCM over KOMU anytime. I hope this is permanent. Starz Family is a helluva lot better than the CW too! End all future negotiations Mediacom!

Those are some nice replacements for the channels, although these types of things are usually temporary. And chances are what a good change was for some, is going to be very inconvenient to others. However there are always other options available. I’m an employee and subscriber to DISH Network and I can tell you not only does DISH still have those channels available , DISH also has the lower monthly rates, way more programming package choices to fit just about anybody and more HD channels than anyone else in the industry. It may be a good time to switch and to anyone considering it, I would recommend giving DISH a look. You will not be disappointed.
