Missouri House votes down student curator legislation

The Missouri House of Representatives voted down a proposal to add a voting student curator to the UM System Board of Curators on Monday. An amendment to House Bill 174 was voted down by a 99-53 count.

Critics of the amendment said the two-year term a potential student curator would serve would lead to problems with inconsistency, but Rep. Stephen Webber, D-Columbia, has argued this would not inhibit his or her ability to serve on the Board of Curators.

"It's not the length of time, it's the quality of the people," Webber said.
