Number of complaints due to fireworks climbs from 2010
The Columbia Police Department responded to 337 complaints about fireworks from 6 a.m. on July 1 to 6 a.m. on July 5, according to a CPD news release. This number is up from last year's 251 complaints.
According to the news release, there is not yet any specific information regarding how many total citations were written.
CPD spokeswoman Jill Wieneke said she does not know the reason for the significant increase in complaints.
