A burglary was reported to the MU Police Department at around 1 a.m. Wednesday from 1112 Hamilton Way, according to an MU Alert sent out to students.

Columbia Police Department searched for a suspect until 1:40 a.m. Pursuit of the suspect led CPD both on and off MU’s campus. The report stated they ended the search at the 1400 block of University Avenue. The suspect was not found. No description of the suspect has been released.

Students received notification of an “active threat” via MU Alert’s Twitter, email, and for some, text messages.

MU Alert continued to update students on the investigation via Twitter.

This is the second report of a burglary in the 1100 block of Hamilton Way this year. CPD officers investigated an armed robbery back in April 2015.

This is also the second burglary this summer that has triggered an MU Alert notification.

MUPD spokesman Capt. Brian Weimer could not be reached for comment.
