The Missouri Supreme Court just ruled public defenders could not discriminate in which cases they take, which officials say will reduce the potential for lawsuits against public defenders. It will most likely increase the strain on the understaffed public defenders system though. The Columbia Missourian has the whole story.

The Westboro Baptist Church protested in Columbia on Monday, claiming that Kraig Kahler was sent by God to punish the citizens of Columbia for supposed sins. The Columbia Daily Tribune has more details.

Columbia, along with a larger portion of Missouri, is under a wind advisory until 6 p.m. Wednesday for winds from 20 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph. The winds are a result of the winter storm that has been moving through the far northwest of Missouri. The Columbia Missourian has more.

Columbia’s main post office started “Operation Santa” on Nov. 30. They will be accepting letters to Santa from children and customers will reply as Saint Nick. Letters are available until December 21. The Columbia Tribune has the whole story.
