Les Bourgeois Vineyards in Rocheport, more popularly known as The Winery, has canceled its next 15 parties and will not consider hosting more until they can be sure party-goers have plans to travel more safely. The events culminating in the cancellations include two alleged sexual assaults this past month, a large amount of underage drinking and an MU senior being hit by a bus around 1 a.m. Friday after a party. The movement Billionaires for Wealth Care, a campaign movement taking a stab at passing health care reforms, has come to Columbia. Protesters dressed up as wealthy people stood on the street wielding sarcastic chants and signs like "walk it off, walk it off," and drank apple cider campagne in classes. Tuesday, Columbia resident Robert A. Hocks pleaded guilty to taking part in selling at least 3,706 pounds of high grade British Columbia marijuana for roughly 4 million dollars in 2007. He kept 200 pounds in his truck, which led Columbia police to one of the biggest marijuana seizes in the history of the department. Read the whole story here.

Federal funding totaling $872,098 was assured to two of the longest trails in Columbia. The officials at GetAbout are breathing sighs of relief now as Hominy Branch and Hinkson Creek will continue to be maintained with federal funds despite the recent scare that those funds would be unavailable.
