Task force heads to Ike

The Missouri Task Force 1 left Columbia today via the Boone County Fire Protection District Headquarters at 4 p.m. to assist in the areas affected by Hurricane Ike. The Ohio Task Force 1 and Florida Task Force 3 will join Missouri to make up a Type 1 team. The Type 1 team will join with a Type 3 team, which is composed of the Florida Task Force 2, the Virginia Task Force 1 and the Maryland Task Force 1. All six task forces are headed to Alexandria, Louisiana. The teams will deploy to Texas sometime Saturday after Ike hits the Texas coast and damages can be assessed.

The Missouri Task Force 1 returned last week from the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota.
